bookmark_borderThe top five things I learned today

  1. Typing is a key skill. I can type just fine if I am writing something — I can look at the keys —but transcribing requires touch typing. Why on earth did I not take typing in high school? Probably because it was a business course and I wanted to be a writer. Silly, silly me…
  2. Lock your door if you are working even just a little bit late — people will walk into your office and ask you questions about things you know nothing about.
  3. Don’t eat lunch too late — you will get a stomach ache if you eat too fast because you are hungry
  4. Be pleasant in all your emails — people will be pleasant back and you will feel warm inside.
  5. Sometimes it is better to skip a cup of coffee and have some nice tea instead.

bookmark_borderTravel ideas….of a disparate nature!

Okay, Iceland makes sense — it’s a natural wonderland. Who wouldn’t want to bathe in hot springs or stroll down the streets of Reykjavik?

But Milwaukee?
Yes, Milwaukee…here are just a few examples:

  1. The Iron Horse Hotel — named 2011 and 2010 Boutique Hotel of the Year by the BLLA and recognized by Condé Nast Traveler for their 2011 Top 100 Gold List — has all the style and service found at a NY or LA boutique hotel, delivered with famous Midwestern friendliness — of course, I want to go.
  2. The Milwaukee Art Museum not just for the art, but to see the Quadracci Pavilion.
  3. The Harley-Davidson Museum.
  4. Lake Park — designed by Frederick Law Olmsted.
  5. The Historic Third Ward.
  6. Lynden Sculpture Garden.
  7. Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church — designed by architect Frank Lloyd Wright.
  8. Milwaukee Architecture….

Plus, the beautiful waterfront!
