Places I want to go to (or return to soon)…

1. The Valley Ho Hotel, Scottsdale, AZ (been — but wanna to stay here next time!)
Valley Ho Hotel

“Savor the mid-century style of guest rooms at this urban resort. The best of classic design with the ultimate chic. All-glass walls opening onto airy patios. Terrazzo tile baths behind translucent walls. 32″ flat-screen TV. WiFi, here and everywhere. Cabana rooms with curtained patios overlooking the pool. Large suites with even larger balconies. Wake up. Dream. Indulge.”

2. Palm Springs (have not been — but wanna go soon)
3. Santa Fe, NM (lots of times but can’t wait to return)
AND THE ONE NON-SOUTHWESTERN LOCALE….
4. Iceland! (the fjords call me as the desert does…)
Oh man, I need a vacation …

go go's VACATION

bookmark_borderbook club

Last night was our first bookclub meeting of 2007 and everyone was surprised I loved the book. I was surprised too!

I think this year is going to go really well even though my initial choice, The End of Faith by Sam Harris did not win the vote for the next book on our agenda.

That’s okay though since I’m thinking about proposing his latest book, Letter to a Christian Nation when it’s my turn to pick. Even if I don’t propose it, I’ll still probably read it since I’m on a (anti)religion and culture kick these days. I just finished The Missionary Position: Mother Teresa in Theory and Practice by Christopher Hitchens which I enjoyed.

I dare you to read this book [Letter to a Christian Nation]…it will not leave you unchanged. Read it if it is the last thing you do.
—Richard Dawkins, author of The Selfish Gene and The God Delusion

The other book I might suggest is The God Delusion. Or I may just come up with some stunning fiction picks. I’m so crazy and wild!

Books make me mental with joy. And book club is a hoot especially after three glasses of very nice wine and a lovely dinner.
