Today I finished reading “Fish” by T.J. Parsell. It was raw, brutal and honest.
I have several other books on my shelf about prison culture and crime, racism and the abandonment of the working class. I find these topics very interesting. I can’t pretend to understand what it might be like to not live in a privileged environment but these books help me look at the world outside my middle class comfort zone.
Speaking of books, I’m only on page 55 of the novel I need to finish for my book club next week. Good thing I’m a fast reader. It would help if I liked it more but it’s still early. I need to give it more of a chance. I’m going to stop procrastinating and finish it before I start on some other books in my queue that I bought while ago, including I Have Chosen to Stay and Fight by Margaret Cho.
